(DEU) Create and submit an XBRL instance document

Certain regulating authorities require a company to file an instance document created using a specific taxonomy (for more information, see (DEU) Management Reporter and XBRL).

Warning

You must have the XBRL Submit user permission to submit an instance document for filing with authorities.

Follow these steps to create the instance document to be filed for your company.

  1. Before you create the building blocks for your report, create the XBRL entity and units (for more information, see (DEU) Create and maintain XBRL entities and (DEU) Create and maintain XBRL units).

  2. As you create the building blocks for your reports, specify the XBRL-specific information being requested.

  3. Create a report group and add the reports to be included in the instance document.

  4. Generate the report group. The report group automatically creates the instance document with the reports that contain the XBRL information and the Global Common Data (GCD).

  5. When viewing the reports in the Web Viewer, click Submit and select Validate to validate the documents for filing, or select XBRL Filing to submit the documents for filing with the regulating authorities. You must have the XBRL Submit user permission to submit an instance document for filing.

If you already have a report definition or other building blocks created and want to add XBRL, create the XBRL entity and units. Then you must open the building blocks and tag the information with the appropriate XBRL labels.
