IRecorder.AllowInitialSilenceTimeout Property

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

Gets or sets whether the synthesizer's InitialTimeout can stop the Recorder object.

Namespace: Microsoft.SpeechServer
Assembly: Microsoft.SpeechServer (in microsoft.speechserver.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Property AllowInitialSilenceTimeout As Boolean
bool AllowInitialSilenceTimeout { get; set; }

Property Value

True if AllowInitialSilenceTimeout is in effect; otherwise False.

Remarks

The primary task of the synthesizer is to play prompts, but it also detects speech. Its speech-detection capability supports bargein and is used to identify the InitialSilence condition, in which an application's first prompt receives no response. This condition is usually indicative of a bad connection. Authors can use the synthesizer's InitialSilenceTimeout to handle this condition.

When the synthesizer's InitialSilenceTimeout occurs, the synthesizer stops. If the DTMF recognizer's AllowInitialSilenceTimeout is True at this time, the synthesizer's InitialSilenceTimeout stops the recorder and the synthesizer.
