What's New in the Operations Manager 2007 R2 SDK
Applies To: Operations Manager 2007 R2, Operations Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Operations Manager 2007
The following sections describe the new features in System Center Operations Manager 2007 and the associated changes in the Operations Manager 2007 SDK.
Operations Manager Class Libraries
The System Center Operations Manager 2007 class libraries are present on Management Servers and on computers with the Operations Console component installed. Application developers can now use the new set of types under the Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement namespace as their primary means of accessing Operations Manager features and data, including the following:
Management Server configuration
Management Server administration
Access to operations data
Management Pack authoring
For more information about using the class libraries, see the following sections:
Operations Manager Interoperability
In previous releases, the Microsoft SDK contained WMI classes for monitoring non-Windows-based computers and other hardware devices. In System Center Operations Manager 2007, these WMI classes are no longer required. You can now monitor non-Windows-based computers and other hardware devices by defining Management Packs. For more information about hardware monitoring and Management Pack authoring, see the System Center Operations Manager 2007 Help.
Obsolete Features and APIs
The following features are not included in System Center Operations Manager 2007:
The MOM 2005 WMI provider
The MOM 2005 version of the Microsoft.Mom.Sdk assembly
The MOM 2005 Managed Code Response class library in the Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Runtime namespace
The MOM 2005 SDK SQL Views
The MOM 2005 Scripting Library
The MOM Management Information Base (MicrosoftOperationsManager.mib).
The MOM 2000 and the MOM 2005 versions of the MOM Connector Framework (MCF) in the Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Connector and Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Connector.V2 namespaces are now obsolete. For information about the new Operations Manager Connector Framework (OMCF) that is included with Operations Manager 2007, see Connecting to External Systems by Using Operations Manager Connectors.
