Docking Windows

You can dock dockable windows to the Visual FoxPro desktop or with each other, and you can dock windows in three different modes; normal, linked, and tabbed. You can use tabbed docking and linked docking together.

You can enable or disable this functionality by toggling the DOCKABLE option of a window title bar shortcut menu.

Normal Docking

Specifies windows docked to a boundary of the main Visual FoxPro window.

To create normal docking

  1. Use the window shortcut menu to ensure that the window to be docked is Dockable.

  2. Drag the window title bar to a boundary of the main Visual FoxPro window.

**Note   **You can undock windows by dragging the title bar away form the shared window boundary.

Linked Docking

Specifies windows that are docked to each other and simultaneously share a dockable window container.

To create linked docking

  1. Use the window shortcut menu to ensure that all windows to be docked are Dockable.

  2. Drag the title bar of one window to a boundary (docking zone) of the other.

You will then see an additional title bar created for the docked windows.

**Note   **You can undock linked windows by dragging the title bar away form the shared window.

Tabbed Docking

Specifies windows that are docked to each other and share the full window through tabs.

To create tabbed docking

  1. Use the window shortcut menu to ensure that all windows to be docked are Dockable.

  2. Drag the title bar of one window to the title bar of the other.

You will then see tabs added to the bottom boundary of the docked windows.

Note   You can undock tabbed windows by dragging the tab away from the shared window. You can disable docking behavior by holding the CTRL key while dragging a window.
