IP Multicasting for IPv6 (Windows CE 5.0)
IP multicasting is used to provide efficient multicast services to clients that may not be located on the same network segment. For instance, Windows Sockets applications can join a multicast group to participate in a wide-area conference.
Windows CE is level-2 (send and receive) compliant with RFC 1112.
Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) enables you to manage subnet multicast membership for IPv6. MLD is a series of three Internet Control Message Protocol version 6 (ICMPv6) messages that replace the Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) that is used for IPv4.
