Show a network connection icon in the notification area
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2
To show a network connection icon in the notification area
Open Network Connections.
Right-click the icon for the network connection that you want to display in the notification area, and then click Properties.
Select the Show icon in notification area when connected check box, and then click OK.
Notes
To open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
If a network connection icon is displayed in the notification area, you can access basic connection and statistical information by pointing to the icon.
If the Show icon in notification area when connected check box is selected for the shared Internet connection, an icon for the shared Internet connection appears in the notification area each time that connection is enabled. When the shared Internet connection is disabled, the icon disappears from the notification area.
It is a good practice to select this check box when you are using wireless connections.
