El sistema operativo puede enviar mensajes de notificación que representan los eventos generados por un dispositivo. El sistema envía esas notificaciones a una ventana o a un servicio de Windows. Acerca del ejemplo de código

En el ejemplo de código se usa un identificador de ventana para las notificaciones de cambio de dispositivo y contiene una gran cantidad de código solo para administrar la infraestructura de ventanas. Una aplicación diseñada para instalarse como un servicio de Windows contendría código de infraestructura diferente.

La aplicación recibirá el mensaje WM_DEVICECHANGE cada vez que se envíe una notificación de eventos de interfaz de dispositivo USB.
