How to Install Commerce Server on the Web Servers

This topic provides steps for installing Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 and Commerce Server 2009 on the Web servers. You must install these versions of Commerce Server in the following order:

  1. Commerce Server 2007

  2. Commerce Server 2009

Note

You must have administrator permissions on the computer where you install Commerce Server. Log on to the operating system under a user account that has local administrator permissions.

To install Commerce Server 2007 on the Web servers

  1. Insert the Commerce Server 2007 Enterprise Edition CD into the CD drive.

If the Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 splash screen does not appear, run the setup.exe file from the product CD.

  2. In the Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 splash screen, in the Install section, click Microsoft Commerce Server 2007.

  3. On the Customer Information page, type your customer name and organization, and then click Next.

  4. On the License Agreement page, click Yes, I accept the terms of the license agreement, and then click Next.

  5. On the Component Installation page, in the Available components box, select Commerce Server 2007, Staging, and Health Monitoring Service, and then click Next.

  6. On the Summary page, click Install.

The Installation Progress page appears that states that the Setup program is installing the selected program features.

  7. On the Installation Completed page, click Finish.

  8. Run the Configuration Wizard. For more information, see How to Configure Commerce Server on the Web Servers.

To install Commerce Server 2009 on the Web servers

  1. Log on to the server under a user account that has local administrator permissions.

  2. To begin the installation, do one of the following:

    • Insert the Commerce Server 2009 DVD in the computer's drive. The setup program starts automatically.

    • If you are accessing the software image on a local or remote hard drive, go to the appropriate location, open the Setup folder and double-click the Setup.exe file.

    Note

If you begin the installation and you have Commerce Server 2009 already installed on the server, the setup program displays a message stating that you must uninstall the existing version. You must uninstall all previous versions of Commerce Server 2009. Click Cancel to exit the installation.

  3. If the setup program detects that some prerequisite software is missing, it displays a message to that effect. Click Close to exit Setup. Install the required software and then resume the Commerce Server 2009 installation.

  4. On the Welcome page that lists the components the setup program will install, click Next.

    Note

The installation detects the edition of Commerce Server 2007 that you have currently installed on the server and will only list and install the components that are relevant to the edition you have. Consequently, the list of components shown may differ slightly from the one shown in the above illustration.

  5. On the Microsoft SoftwareLicense Terms page, read the license agreement, select I have read and accept the license terms, and then click Next.

Setup installs the components; a progress report is shown.

  6. On the page that indicates that the installation is complete, click Finish.

  7. If you want to use the SharePoint Commerce Services, you must deploy the services to your SharePoint environment. See "Deploying the SharePoint Commerce Services" in the Commerce Server 2009 Installation and Configuration Guide.
