How to Copy a Help Topic or Code Example

You can copy text or sample code from a topic to the Clipboard and then paste it into another file.

Copying a Help Topic

Follow these steps to copy a topic from Microsoft Document Explorer to a word-processing application.

To copy a Help topic to a word-processing application

  1. In the document window, display the topic you want to copy.

  2. On the Edit menu, choose Select All.

    -or-

    Drag the pointer to select the text you want to copy.

    Note

    Step numbers are not copied to the Clipboard.

  3. On the Edit menu, choose Copy to copy the content to the Clipboard.

  4. Open the document into which you want to paste the topic.

  5. Click in your document where you want the information to appear.

  6. On the Edit menu, click Paste.

Copying a Code Sample

Follow these steps to copy a code sample from Microsoft Document Explorer to the clipboard.

To copy a code sample

  1. In the document window, display the topic that contains the code sample you want to copy.

  2. Scroll to the code sample block of text.

  3. Click Copy Code, located at the upper-right of the code sample block. The contents of the code sample are copied to the Clipboard.

  4. Open the source file into which you want to paste the code sample.

  5. Click in your source file where you want the information to appear.

  6. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
