Next Version of Internet Explorer !!
Bill Gates announced Microsoft's plan for the next version of Internet Explorer in a speech at a security conference. See this link for more on that announcement.

Please add support for pausing resuming downloads, this would be great.
Please also make it easy to browse through past downloads (and also to clear this history).

Dear Ali,
Why do you have security zones? Why don't you just have granular privileges set for each site or resource instead?
This gets you away from the 'either/or' mentality when choosing between security zones.
The 'security levels' you set for each are meant to increase monotonically in every regard as you move down the zones. However, as I'm sure you're aware, it doesn't work like that in many real-world examples. - Anonymous

Ali, please overhaul the security certificates system. Newbies ignore them and clueful people don't trust Verisign. Get a better digital signature system in place.

Why does it take so long to clear my cache? Firefox is near instant.
Also, sometimes IE remembers things in its address bar even if I have cleared the history. Please fix this! - Anonymous

As for the history, I am not aware of IE remembering any thing in the address bar if you Clear the history. Addresses in the Start->Run Menu are another thing altogether.
Just to make sure you can clear the following key to ensure there are no URLs to display in the address bar:

I do quite a bit of troubleshooting of machines of home and nontechnical users. Most of these people are quite satisfied with IE. Those that aren't generally have their system so infected with spyware and malware that they have downloaded an alternative browser simply because IE does not work anymore. For these users, the most important feature of a new version of IE would be that when they install it, things start working again. - Anonymous

Three things to add for IE 7.
1. Follow the standards. If you want to use your "improvements" in rendering pages, add it as an extra, like what Borland did with Pascal.
2. Add Tabbed Browsing. I use Firefox mainly because of this feature.
3. Enable addons system similar to Firefox Extensions if possible.
While options 1 and 3 might be difficult to implement for a number of reasons, PLEASE make Tabbed Browsing available. - Anonymous

How about some operating efficiency. IE 6 on Win2k Pro still uses tremendous amounts of memory. Admittedly, Firefox is no longer a lightweight either. Top three wishes:<br>1) Make it fully support CSS2 and XHTML 1.1 correctly.(If you want to add bells and whistles add OPTIONAL functionality and integrated features such as RSS support or cross application functions such as integrated Media Player features.)<br>2) Make it secure.<br>3) Lets see some tabs. <br>As mentioned above customizability would be nice but lets all remember that IE is for the masses and the masses dont't customize. It might not be bad to have a developer tool-set as a seperate download like Chris Pederick's Webdeveloper toolbar for Mozilla/Gecko Based Browsers.
