[Mini-Tutorial] Blend 3: SketchFlow Part II

Bill Buxton talks about the difference between “Sketch” and “Prototype” in this his Sketching User Experiences. (see the summary below)

I agree sketching is an important part of the design process, but often times it’s hard to share our paper and pen sketches and get feedback from others. Following Part I of the SketchFlow tutorial, this tutorial demos the SketchFlow player and different ways designers can share their design ideas.

You can also download the video here.

Very helpful, thanks for the tutorial.  I wonder, is there anyway to easily package up the sketchflow reader for non-technical stakeholders to use?  You know, so they don't have to install Blend3 and run this project from within the tool to get the reader experience.  Thoughts? Thanks, James

Hi James, The SketchFlow player (I think you call it Reader) is stand alone and doesn't require Blend 3 install. When you start a SketchFlow project in Blend, the SketchFlow player is part of the Silverlight project, so anyone can use it to comment on the design as long as they have Silverlight plug-in install on their browsers. They can comment, save the feedback file, and send it back to the designer. At the production stage, the SketchFlow project can be easily turn into a production ready project where the SketchFlow Player UI can be removed. Hope this helps!

Good videos.  Could you release examples of the following.

  1. Basic app that allows data to be collected and then processed at end of selections.  Meaning, a good example would be of Snowboard site to allow use to select products to add to a cart ( Collection of data ) and then process ( either list in a final UI location ).
  2. Show how to remove SketchFlow Player and deploy example for both WPF and Silverlight type applications. Thanks in advance.

Hi Shaggygi, To remove the SketchFlow Player reference, please see the topics in the User Guide titled ‘Convert into a production project.’ Thanks, Qixing

I second shaggyi's request for a tutorial that shows the collection and processing of data. Is there a way to do this in SketchFlow??

Great video, but the sound level is too low, makes it hard to hear. Can you check for the next one that the sound level is higher.
