WSR Accuracy Survey

We're always looking for feedback on how to improve Windows Speech Recognition.  If you are a frequent user, please take a moment to respond with your experiences.  You can email us, or leave a comment below.

  1. What mode of microphone control do you use most often?
    1. I use “start listening” and “stop listening”
    2. I press CTRL+WIN to change listening modes
    3. I use my headset/microphone mute button
  2. If you use “start listening” (or have in the past), how reliable is it for your environment?
    1. Very reliable: WSR only listens when I say “start listening”
    2. Somewhat reliable: WSR occasionally wakes up even if I did not say, “start listening”, but it’s not a problem for me.
    3. Not reliable: I cannot use the Sleep mode because “start listening” is recognized too frequently.
  3. Were you aware that pressing CTRL+WIN was a possible means of controlling the listening state?
    1. No
    2. Yes
  4. When you add words to the speech dictionary, do you also record a pronunciation?
    1. Yes, always
    2. Sometimes
    3. Only if after adding the word WSR still does not recognize it correctly
    4. What’s the speech dictionary?
  5. Do you find that while correcting misrecognized phrases, that WSR still misrecognizes the phrase, even after one or more corrections?
    1. Always
    2. Frequently
    3. Enough that I notice
    4. Occasionally
    5. Rarely
  6. What is your favorite feature or aspect of Windows Speech Recognition?
  7. Conversely, what is the one thing you’d like to change?

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback!  We do value your feedback and use it to help guide future development.

For me it's the saving my aching right arm from the wear and tear of using a keyboard.7.) It would be nice to dictate into firefox and if WSRMacros.exe would start when WSR starts.

a a a a b the macros rock! I can't seem to be able to easily access the System tray, where many of my applications are minimized (or call the applications from the system tray)

a - I use a Sony Vaio laptop and haven't got a separate microphone/headset. I was surprised it works as well as it does without one. a - I get confused sometimes when I say "Stop Listening" it goes OFF instead of Sleep. I don't know why that happens. No -  but thanks for the tip. I'll use it now. I've seen the Speech Dictionary only once. Not sure how I'll be using it. c - especially when trying to say "Vista"! Show numbers works great as a quick "at least this will work" feature. I read a lot of blogs and forums so the repetitive up and down of paging that kills my hand is relieved with voice. Need more documentation! And a resource for questions. Where do I figure out the more obscure things that happen that the reference card doesn't handle? So glad for Rob's list of commands - wish he had time to embelish it further.
