Xobni - email happiness

I have been resisting this for a little while but was finally convinced by Gareth, the Windows Server product manager.

Xobni is positioned as an add-in to Outlook that helps organise your flooded inbox. I wasn't convinced until I actually used it.

Yes it helps me find the latest conversations by email or Communicator that I have had with people, but Vista Search can do that and does it well.

But what it does tell me in addition that I find very cool:

1) The ranking of the top people by volume that email me
2) The ranking of the top people by volume that I email
3) The time of the day that I am most active
4) Phone numbers from emails pop into the sidebar for easy access

Xobni System Requirements:

  • Windows XP or Vista
  • Outlook 2003 or 2007
  • 2 GHz processor
  • 1+ GB RAM

p.s. Well done to those that spotted Xobni is in fact Inbox backwards

One of the things that I find most useful about Xobni is that when you go from your inbox to your calendar, the Xobni sidebar automatically changes to show your last viewed email. Handy when the reason that you went to the calendar was because that particular email was asking if you're free to meet up sometime.
