IOT: Raspberry Pi 2 and Windows 10

You may have read about it at the Raspberry Pi 2 product, which for $35 US 2015 is a pretty good deal, but today, 2/2/2015, it appears that the only place you can buy them is from England, at least according to the Raspberry Pi site at: https://www.raspberrypi.org/raspberry-pi-2-on-sale/.  The two sales URL are located at element14 and RS Components.  Only problem?  These sites appear to use the same sales finalizer site and it doesn’t support sales to the US.

I ordered mine from Amazon: https://bit.ly/raspberrypi2 .  I bought 2 of the “Raspberry Pi 2”, since I use mine in some dangerous, for microcircuits, situations, from Amazon and took the hit for 2 day delivery.

You do need to be careful, since this just started today, you will be shown the older Raspberry Pi boards, make sure to get the, and use this for a search for better pricing, shipping etc. as this blog is written only for the date of publication:

  • Raspberry PiTM 2 Model B Project Board - 1GB RAM - 900MHz Quad-Core CPU

The link I ordered from on 2/2/2015 is: https://bit.ly/raspberrypi2 .  The rapid shipping cost is quite high if you need it.  Also, it doesn’t ship with anything as far as I can tell, so you will need a power supply, etc.

Early Adopter

Conclusion:

So if you are thinking about the HaloLens, which  is totally cool and QUITE different from the Occulus (which is a good product).  The HaloLens is going to be expensive for the near future.  If you are a nerd like me, then the Raspberry Pi 2 with Windows 10 is an exciting development, especially since I have been working on figuring out a Windows 8 Embedded on Raspberry Pi, which wasted a great deal of time.

Connecting your Raspberry Pi 2 with Azure is the way to go to be successful with a large audience!

Over and out.

I work on "MeshedPi": www.tinfinet.com/projects.html A Raspberry Pi with four Long Range transceivers, for very Long Range IoT networks: have Diversity reception, let it act as Repeater, bridge BLE, WiFi sensor connections over miles ... I want to invite other enthusiasts to help on "IoT Long Range Swarm Networks", to create meshed networks, SmartGrids, SmartCity etc. Would be great to see Windows 10 on Raspberr Pi running IoT applications for Long Range wireless networks using the latest Swarm Intelligence for city wide private IoT sensor networks. Please, who can help and wants to join me?
