Making dreams come true
Growing up I was a huge video game fan, and that hasn’t changed as I’ve grown up. My day job is generally writing business productivity apps, so while gaming is fun, and concepts like gamification are slowly working their way into my world, there isn’t a whole lot of overlap. Listening to the Windows Developer Show podcast, I know I’m not the only one. I had been kicking the tires on writing games for Windows Phone 7, and with the alignment of Windows 8 and WP8 allowing for more code reuse, things are really looking up for indie developers. That’s when Unity goes and releases their latest version(4.2) that supports both platforms (as well as several others) that blew my mind!!
I’ll be the first to admin that I’m not artistically inclined. Unity has an asset store so people like me can procure professional images and sound, leaving me to focus on the programming. Check out the tutorial project to see how to build a level of a stealth game.
