Windows 7 and 2008R2 has reached RTM

Very cool news last night that we officially RTM'd with Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2.

General availbility is still set for 10.22.09 as far as I am aware and I have seen plenty of upgrade programs from various OEMs at local retailers and online.  Windows 7 has some very cool features that make it a great operating system for both consumer and enterprise and I am excited to see it hit the RTM milestone.

    Yes, that is still going to happen but the OS is more robust than prior versions.

    Well I tend to look at it from a support standpoint.  In our business, we've seen very few servicing issues overall as compared to the downlevel clients like XP and 2003 Server.  The main issue seems to be that troubleshooting the new architecture is more involved and complex than update.exe was.

    Great OS. Unfortunately, users will starting seeing "Please wait while Windows configures updates" as the updates and service packs start rolling.

    Unless we uninstalled lots of hotfixes in the wrong order, XP usually had no problems with stability and robustness. Servicing was reliable and fast.
