Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 has RTM'd

Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 SP1 has shipped. Here’s the bottom line:

  • Volume Licensed, MSDN and TechNet subscribers get access February 16.
  • All customers get access February 22 through Windows Update and direct download

    Very fast is realitive <G>.  Standalone installations on my machine are right around 30mins or so, about the same as any other service pack. As for the second question, that's not something I can answer because I dont know.  My guess would just be the fact that the test cycle hit over two major holidays probably added to the time it took to get it out the door.

    testing and writing the documentation about the Sp1, creating of other hotfixes, updating the KB pages for the old KB articles ....

    What is the approximate time it should take to install this on a very fast system? What took it so long after the final build was completed in November to release it to web this month?
