Charly The Kid
I've been playing around with the beta of Windows Media Player 11 (See my previous post on this and the release of URGE)
I realized I haven't imported my "Somewhat" collection of tunes on my home box (Of course I realized that I don't even have everything I have digitized yet, but that's on my list of personal tasks t do for my MCE box :))
Anyways, WMP11's new Library is pretty darn slick. I love how they've redone it to give you varying levels of sorting your colletion via Album art, etc.
One of the CD's I do have digitized is my copy of "Firestarter" by Tangerine Dream. (I have nearly their entire catalog btw, nearly 120 CD's, Old LPs, and even quite a few cassettes.)
The track on this CD that just does it for me is "Charly The Kid". It's one of a couple of songs that first got me interested in them, and then I went on a buying spree. I couldn't get enough of them.
In fact, probably for the entire 2 years of 1984-1985, my general playlist was the following:
- Firestarter
- Logos
- Poland
- Le Parc
- Phaedra
- Insert all Depeche Mode releases as of 1985
- Insert all Van Halen releases as of 1985
- Vangelis
As I increased my TD collection, I found that I could just never get tired and run out of TD material to listen to.
I thought I would intermix a few postings about my musical history, so I'll start with the influences TD has had on my life, as a large set of their music is what I listen to daily while coding SharePoint related tools :).
Stay tuned for the "History of Musical Influences by that SharePoint Guy" series of blog postings to your feed reader soon :)
