iPhone 5. A few small things made a big difference. And not in a good way.
When I got my iPhone 5, as before, I looked forward to the arrival and excitedly unwrapped the packaging. I quickly got it up and running and started playing with the device. It was tall and thin (in comparison to the iPhone 4s) and noticed I had an extra line of apps on the screen. I started to search more. All my email was there, all the great apps were still there, it still took great photos and it still played all my music, but that was it. I had upgraded to get an extra line of icons?
I then jumped into the car to drive to see friends for the weekend and put it into its holder. It didn't fit because it was too big. I plugged it into the car charger to charge it up. It didn't work because the charging cable had changed. I couldn’t use this for satnav anymore and had to configure the iPhone 4s instead.
Up until that day, I had no reason to question my iPhone obsession as it has always given me what I wanted. An easy to use phone that worked with 'everything' and had an 'app for everything', there was no catalyst to change until that day.
But surely I couldn't move to a Windows Phone?
