New Subscriber Downloads and Product Keys UI - coming mid week

April 10 0930AM (US PST): Deployment activities are now underway. We expect this will take several hours to fully complete - probably late afternoon or early evening (US PST).

In a post a few months back I told you about the improvements that Microsoft would be rolling out for Subscribers with a new Subscriber Downloads and Product Keys UI.

see https://blogs.msdn.com/msdnsubscriptions/archive/2008/01/21/msdn-subscriber-downloads-is-changing.aspx for more details.

In any case - it is coming this week mid week!

This new UI looks like it will be really nice to use. Thanks for the heads-up!

Will expired MSDN subscribers be allowed to download products that were published late due to Microsoft bugs?  For example, I'm allowed to download Vista and Server 2008, and I should be allowed to download checked builds of the same, but who knows when some of those checked builds will be posted.

Norman: Only active subscribers will be able to download products. Expired subscribers will not be able to download products.

"Expired subscribers will not be able to download products." Thank you for this warning.  Now I have to ask how to obtain the following products. Windows Server 2008 Windows Driver Kit (WDK): 'We expect to have fully tested the fix to this problem within two weeks (by 3/15).' My MSDN subscription expires after 3/15, but it might expire before the WDK gets posted. Windows Server 2008 Checked Build: MSDN still says null.  My MSDN subscription might expire before that gets posted too. Others may be waiting to be discovered.  To the best of my understanding I have paid for these products for use in development and testing.

I agree with Norman Diamond - expired subscribers should be able to (re-)download anything that was available during their subscription, plus anything that was released late but that they were licensed to use during their subscription term. MSDN licenses are meant to be perpetual - surely that should include being able to get new digital copies when necessary (and possibly even CD/DVDs for a shipping charge). The alternative is that customers who don't renew will have to download and backup everything towards the end of their subscription term (along with all available keys). MSDN should also be sending out Windows Server 2008 and Vista SP1 discs now to subscribers - but even though it is now over a month since release, these are still only available via download. Any news of a shipping date for the discs?
