Using C++ AMP in financial service industry – A Case Study

We would like to give a shout out to a C++ AMP case study we released couple of months ago. The case study talks about how CMA, a company that develops pricing solutions and financial data services, used C++ AMP to deliver a faster pricing mechanism without sacrificing accuracy. CMA has been an excellent example where C++ AMP was able to provide a significant advantage to our customers. To quote Moody Hadi, Research Director in CMA “By using C++ AMP, we can generate fast, accurate pricing with less strain on our resources, which is a key differentiator in our segment and helps us provide greater value to our clients”.

Please read CMA’s fascinating story at Microsoft Case Studies Site. The case study is titled Financial Data Leader Shortens Time-to-Market, Increases Speed with Right Tools. We will continue to blog about how our customers are using C++ AMP. So stay tuned!

Update: In response to comments, CMA folks have written an addendum to this case study, which is published in Addendum to CMA's case study blog post.

I'd love to see a case study based around digital post production if you have a suitable client.

I'm not sure if the same is true for the rest of the articles at Microsoft Case Studies Site, but this one is lacking any sort of useful detail. It seem's more like a press release than a case-study. They mention things are faster, but by how much and on what hardware? How much has latency improved, what about things like power usage? What other technologies did you compare against? What were some of the problems you encountered during implementation? How did your initial implementation stack up? What changes did you have to make to your first implementation to get to your final version? Without those kinds of questions and answers, its nothing more than a check mark next to "Can C++ AMP be useful to the financial services industry." Admittedly, good to know, but doesn't exactly tell us anything new.

@Details, Thanks for your comments and we do acknowledge your request for details. Since we are not at liberty to discuss what our customer did, we will work with CMA about publishing more details.

@Boby George (MSFT): Thanks for the fast reply, and I appreciate the effort. A lot of the existing C++ AMP coverage that is out there right now is still very basic and doesn't exactly represent real-world usage, so I am excited to hear more.
