Autofocus: Day 1 Results
Here are my first day's results using Autofocus (AF):
- Work-related tasks entered in my notebook yesterday: 10
- Work-related tasks entered in my Outlook Tasks list yesterday: 10
- Non-work-related tasks entered in my notebook yesterday: 4
Of these:
- Completed tasks: 9 (5 work-related, 4 non-work-related)
- Deferred tasks: 10 (all work-related)
- Dismissed tasks: 5 (all work-related)
For the deferred tasks, I deferred each of them to a particular due date, but I still left them in my Outlook Tasks list. For the deferred tasks that I had originally entered into my notebook (3 of them), I moved them out of my notebook and onto my Outlook Tasks list.
I dismissed a work-related task because after I started working on it, I felt it wasn't really that important for me to worry about anymore. It felt good to make that decision and not feel guilty about not completing that task.
The other 4 tasks that I dismissed were because they ended up being meeting agenda items, not what I would consider pure tasks. So I moved them out of my Outlook Tasks list and onto my Outlook Calendar.
