Autofocus: What I'm Keeping from GTD
What am I keeping from Getting Things Done (GTD) as I begin to apply Autofocus (AF)?
- Ubiquitous capture: everything goes into my AF list as a next action or is otherwise discarded, deleted, or archived. I try to make immediate "next action or not" decisions about things as they come in.
- My AF list serves as a single source for my GTD "Waiting," "Next Actions," "Projects," and "Project Planning" processing areas. My calendar holds date-sensitive next actions. I have only two contexts: work and non-work. Each context gets a separate AF list.
- I have a single "Archive" folder to hold electonic reference material, and I have a set of file folders in a cabinet to hold paper reference material.
- I don't use a "Tickler" (43 folders) file set. I haven't seen a reason to (yet).
- I don't have a "Someday/Maybe" file or list. Maybe I should; perhaps my life is too shallow without one? :-)
