Working on a Saturday afternoon

If you call what I do "work"!  I love my job and goofing with computers.

Friday's I worked on an issue where Exchange 5.5 (SBS45, yes it is still out there and alive and well...if it ain't broke...you know the rest) databases were becoming dismounted due to them being at the 16 gb limit.  The solution for that issue (with any version of Exchange prior to Exch2k3sp2 <75 GB limit, whoot!> is to follow Q185457.  The issue on Friday was a bit more complex as after running through the steps in Q185457, it put the database at 15.8 GB, not a long term solution.  What was recommended was to "exmerge" the data out to PST's, stop the Exchange services, delete the contents of MDBDATA (the default location of the Exchange databases and transaction logfiles), start the Exchange services and copy the PST's to the appropriate workstations and "load" them in Outlook (not import, simply open them).

<btw, the Exchange 2000/2003 article is Q828070>

Cheers!
