How far can Silverlight go?

As usual Microsoft are going to be working closely with the community to figure out what exactly Silverlight can do, but in the mean time Bob Bowman, President and CEO of MLB (Major League Baseball).  They have about 8-10 DVD's worth of data every second from their site.

The most important thing to them is their live game.  In 2002 they started streaming. (Left)

2 years later it looked like this

Last year they delivered this and will have subscribers upwards of 1 million people.  It's got 6 live video panes, live data, advertising etc.  So here we go with what Silverlight has done for them.

Justin Shafer of New Media is now talking about what they've done for MLB with Silverlight.

This has different widgets, one shows pitches/current bases etc.  One is a player tracker which can track players of interest.  This data is also shareable too.  They mentioned fantasy leagues as a use.

They've just shown off live resizing of video.

I think they just showed off remote transmission of a clip that a friend sent the user of a home run that had just happened.

Pretty impressive.
