Pie in the Sky (August 23, 2013)
Busy week at work, working on some new projects. Here's a few links for your Friday reading.
Cloud
- Zud.io: Browser-based access to Windows Azure Storage.
Mobile/Client
Device.js: Makes it easy to write conditional CSS and JavaScript based on device operating system, orientation, and type.
Frameworks are amazing and nobody is happy: True, but sounds a lot like "You kids get off my lawn!"
Using Meteor as a front-end library: Haven't tried this one yet, but sounds interesting. Splitting off the client-side bits of Meteor instead of using the full stack.
Exploring HTML Imports: Discussion and examples on using HTML Imports. Since Web Components are still a ways off, this uses Polymer for polyfills in several examples.
Using the HTML5 constraint API for form validation: Basic validation using HTML, custom using JavaScript.
Bootstrap 3 released: Lots of new stuff.
Node.js
Node.js v0.10.17 (Stable): New Node.js release.
An absolute beginner’s guide to Node.js: For people who still don't do Node.
PHP
- Updated Windows Azure Cheat Sheet for Web Sites: The PHP section has received some updates.
Misc.
- Practical typography: For people who don't know typography (yet).
Enjoy!
