Exclude Users From Delve and SharePoint Online People Search

In support, we receive requests from time to time for information on how-to configure SharePoint People search and Delve results so that specific users do not appear in search results. Many admins want to be able to do this without having to delete or move users to a non-synced OU.

  Remember to set "MailNickName" attribute in on-prem AD for this to work - otherwise "msExchHideFromAddressLists" won't be synced.

  Thanks for this very intressting article. I am looking exactly for this solution.I was trying it in our tenant, but I can only get user hidden from the exchange address book and not from Delve. I cannot open the users Delve profile anymore, but he is still visible in the managers organization diagram. I would have assumed he would also disappear there?

    Thanks for the question. Unfortunately this will not remove the user from the organization. The only way to do that is to remove the manager. I'll update the article to provide that as well.
