Windows Live Quick Apps launched at WPC
It's not gotten as much noise as it should this week so I wanted to put out a big shout here about the Windows Live Quick Apps we announced yesterday. Not least as two great UK partners were instrumental in getting these apps out - AWS and Conchango. I just shot a video of Microsoft's John Richards chatting with Rob Blackwell and Paul Dawson about their respective work on this which should be on Channel 9 soon.
Why is this hot news? Well these Quick Apps showcase the capabilities of the current Windows Live Platform better than anything to date and more importantly, the code for these apps is free for you to download from CodePlex.
If you don don't wanna grab the code you can just play with the Contoso bicycle club and Contoso Uni apps.
I personally love the Contoso bike club as you can see a bike ride (at high speed) around London with the route mapped on to Virtual Earth with birds eye views. You have to check it out!
As Richard from Conchango says, all the Quick Apps get their data from the cloud and set their data in the cloud by utilizing Silverlight Streaming service.
It's great to see this stuff really starting to come aLive this week.
Go play and keep your eyes on https://partner.live.com/windowslive/
