Sync Framework Toolkit now available for download

The Sync Framework Toolkit extends the Sync Framework capabilities for building offline applications, making it easier to expose data for synchronization to applications running on any client platform. Sync Framework 2.1 required clients to be based on Windows. This toolkit allows other Microsoft platforms to be used for offline clients such as Silverlight, Windows Phone 7, and Windows Mobile; in addition, non-Microsoft platforms such as iPhone, Android, and Blackberry can be utilized as well as HTML.

The Sync Framework Toolkit provides all the features enabled by the Sync Framework 4.0 October 2010 CTP. We are releasing the toolkit as source code samples on MSDN with the source code utilizing Sync Framework 2.1. Source code provides the flexibility to customize or extend the capabilities we have provided to suit your specific requirements. The client-side source code in the package is released under the Apache 2.0 license and the server-side source code under the MS-LPL license.

The toolkit is available for download on MSDN at: https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Sync-Framework-Toolkit-4dc10f0e. After you extract files from the package, you will see a Visual Studio solution in the SRC folder that let you build the toolkit on your computer.

    So does the sync toolkit replace the framework as a stand alone deliverable?

    @Preet - No, the toolkit addresses mostly the client side. if you read above, it still utilizes Sync Framework 2.1

    This project (WP7Client) utilizes system.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations and System.Runtime.Serialization.JSON.  I am upgrading to VS2010 SP1 now....  Can anyone help?

    just update the project references to point to those assemblies in the Silverlight SDK.

    The images in the folder C#toolsSyncSvcUtilUIImages appear to be just gold squares. That is also how they appear in MainForm of SyncSvcUtilUI.exe when run. I have tried multiple computers and multiple viewers with the same result. Weird.  Anyone else experience this?

    Very confusing.  What I've been able to piece together after wasting the last hour searching the net, installing and uninstalling things and having to reboot after uninstalling a friggin SDK:

  1.  the Sync Framework V4 was cancelled, don't install the CTP
  2.  you should be using Sync Framework v2.1
  3.  installing Sync Framework Toolkit if you want the features from Sync Framework V4

    @Ryan - v4 CTP is a preview, so you shouldnt be installing it other than for playing around. v4 CTP was released as Sync Toolkit instead of Sync Framework v4.0. Sync Toolkit is built on top of Sync Framework 2.1.

    Microsoft sync service 4.0 giving me error from last few day … error : ” Value was either too large or too small for a UInt64″ I have tried different solution but wont work …

  1. copy sync database to another database
  2. Run Hotfix from Microsoft for V2.1 Please give me suggestion for this critical issue.
