Devices with ATT connection manager that have issues

You must have read the following post on this blog about issues with Sierra Wireless AC 875 device.

https://blogs.technet.com/teammb/archive/2009/03/17/my-sierra-wireless-ac875-with-at-t-connection-manager-is-not-working.aspx

However, there is one issue that you might see with any of the devices mentioned below in this post, only on 64-bit Windows 7 builds, that use ATT connection manager. After you install the package, your drivers would be installed.

However, all the USB ports might stop working.

If you are experiencing this, then perform the following steps to workaround this:

  • Note the install location on the computer where the drivers were installed from the CD
  • You need to be an administrator on the machine
  • del %systemdrive%\windows\syswow64\drivers\swmsflt.sys
  • del %systemdrive%\windows\system32\swmsflt.sys
  • Search for swmsflt64.sys in the install location (dir /s swmsflt64.sys) and note the location
  • Copy swmsflt64.sys from the above location in step (4) to %systemdrive%\windows\system32\drivers\
  • Rename swmsflt64.sys to swmsflt.sys in %systemdrive%\windows\system32\drivers\
  • Reboot the machine

Devices that have this issue:

[Note: These devices will have this issue only if they come with the ATT connection manager. If they come with a different connection manager, you might not hit this issue.]

  • Sierra Wireless USB Connect Mercury
  • Sierra Wireless USB Connect Quicksilver
  • Sierra 881 PC Card
  • Sierra 875 PC Card
  • Sierra Wireless AC875U
  • Option GlobeTrotter Ultra PC Card
  • Option GlobeTrotter Ultra Express Card
