Using a mobile hotspot and want to save bandwidth?

In the network selection dialog, press and hold or right click on the network and select Set as Metered Connection. Setting this option will tell Windows to treat the wifi connection like a mobile broadband connection, deferring updates and telling applications to attempt to go into a lower bandwidth mode.
