InfoPath 2007 and the Logic Inspector

It’s a double edged sword, InfoPath makes it easy to enter logic and rules that control your form template. The problem is that many times you have dependencies within a form that make it hard to troubleshoot. This often leads to a very manual process of hunting and clicking to understand the overall form design. InfoPath 2007 provides a new feature called the Logic Inspector that goes a long way in helping to solve this problem.

If you open the sample Asset Tracking form

In order to see the various rules and validation included in the form you can open the individual items or you can select the Logic Inspector from the Tools menu.

It provides a visual view of the various parts of the form and how they are connected.

Hello, Did you notice that the logic inspector doesn't inspect the "conditional formatting" rules but only :
  • data validation,
  • default value,
  • rules,
  • event codes ? However, some "Conditional Formatting" rules that update the "read-only" setting of the field can be critical for the form. Raphaël
