DWWTWT?: December 29
I'm going "public" with this post, since it summarizes my commuting results for the year.
The last working day of 2006 finds me still home for the holidays (for the fifteenth day(!), given the power outage), and thus non-competitive..

Here's a brief summary of the results of this experiment thus far:
- 145 "working opportunities" since we began keeping track on 12 June 2006.
- 28 were "non-competitive" (vacation/holiday/weather), leaving a total of 117 "working days" since 12 June 2006.
- Out of those 117 days, I drove to work 24 days, or 20.5%.
- That means I telecommuted or walked 93 days, or 79.5%.
- The first week of this experiment was a transitional week between my old job and my new job, and I drove to work every day. I knew this was going to happen ahead of time; had I "cheated" and started the tally on the 19th (the second week), I would've driven 19 out of 112 working days (16.9%) and walked 93 out of 112 (83.1%).
- The second week was also transitional; if I'd started counting on the 26th, I would've driven 17 out of 107 working days (15.9%) and walked 90 out of 107 (84.1%)
Walking to work essentially 80% of the time is beyond my hopes for "lifestyle change" when I started in June. I'd like to do even better in 2007, but even matching an 80% non-driving rate would be a fantastic achievement.
Stay tuned, and I hope you have a safe and enjoyable New Year's Eve..

It’s that time of year again, when I disappear from the blogosphere for a couple of weeks to contemplateAnonymous
