Running Windows Memory Diagnostic without installing Vista

I have gotten multiple queries on this. Yes, it is possible to run Windows Memory Diagnostic without installing Vista!

You can do it through the Windows installation disc. To run memory diagnostic, insert the installation disc in the computer and reboot. When you get the prompt "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..." press and hold the SPACE BAR or tap it multiple times. This should bring up the Windows boot manager menu that lists Windows Memory Diagnostic as an advanced tool. Hit the TAB key to select Windows Memory Diagnostic and then hit ENTER to run it.

After Memory Diagnostic is done, the machine will continue booting into the installation disc.

    I would like to thank you guys for making so many recovery options in Windows. What I would like to know is this, it's related to XP not Vista but I thought you guys may be knowing.
    Currently whenever there is an improper shutdown and Windows is installed on an NTFS partition, it does not check the volume upon restarting from an improper shutdown, but still when I manually check the volume with the Chkdsk /F switch, it says it found errors and fixed them. This behaviour is different on FAT32 volumes where those volumes are automatically checked and the errors fixed. I read somewhere that NTFS does not require checking the volume upon improper shutdown but still I would like to keep my disk healthy and error-free...so is there a way to FORCE XP to check an NTFS volume every time there is an improper shutdown?

    NTFS has self-healing turned on in Vista. The filesystem will automatically attempt to repair itself whenever needed.
