To Infinity and Beyond!

With all the great games featured during Summer of Arcade and Game Feast, you'll be forgiven if you overlooked Space Invaders Infinity Gene , a new take on the coin-op classic now available on Xbox LIVE Arcade. However, this ain't your grandpa's Space Invaders, as you'll quickly discover when you try the free demo.

The game begins traditionally enough, but quickly evolves into a hyperactive top-down space shooter with a unique retro feel and fast-moving stages featuring vector-style graphics and wire-frame enemies. You gain experience by defeating the UFOs swarming around the screen, unlocking additional weapons for your ship.

The frenetic experience is driven by a thumping techno soundtrack, punctuated with the classic "pew-pew" sound of the original Space Invaders. It's the type of game that'll have you saying, "Just one more try!" … and then you realize it's one o'clock in the morning. If you're a fan of games like Geometry Wars , join the evolution and grab Space Invaders Infinity Gene for only 800 Microsoft Points.

Really? funny you say that, every person I know that owns both systems plays the Xbox 30 far more often than your precious PS3. Granted its a good system, and I do like it, but unless Sony adjusts thier prices theyll slowly going to keep falling behind. Hope you still ike your playstations when they go the way of the Vetrix. I'm not paying that much just for a blueray.

Forgive me, when you said: 'to infinity and beyond' I thought you must have been talking about the US monetary policy. Hyperinflation here we come. Back on the topic of games, great review. Also loved the soundtrack - demo a little limited though. Keen to see their next release! My website: http://www.SiliconeWatch.com
