Distributing your widget application

In all cases you will need to upload and publish your Game Bar widget app to the Microsoft Store. From there, users will be able to acquire your app in one of the following ways.

  1. Xbox Game Bar's widget store
  2. Pre-installed in the OEM system image. Pre-install and Exclusive Apps
  3. You direct link to the Microsoft Store app page from your existing desktop (win32) software.
  4. User searches for it in the Microsoft Store app.
  5. If you're supporting Windows 10 builds of 18956 or later (20H1 public release), side-loading is enabled by default, so distributing the msix/appx with your desktop (win32) software is an option.
