How to: Navigate with the Table of Contents

In the Contents window, you can use a table of contents (TOC) to navigate to information. The table of contents is an expandable list containing all of the topics in the Help collections.

For accessibility information about navigating through the TOC, see Contents Window Shortcut Keys.

Filter the TOC

Filters narrow the scope of topics included in the Contents and Index windows. Only filters for the current Help collection appear in the list and not all Help collections offer filters. If you choose to apply a filter in the Contents window, the same filter is automatically applied to the Index window.Filtres de l'aide pour Visual Studio

To synchronize the TOC with the document window

  1. View a topic.

  2. Click the Sync with Table of Contents button, which is shown in the following screen shot.
