How to: Set Up Online Map

When you plan a visit to for example a customer, you can get a map from an online map service with route directions described in the language you select. To make sure this online map service finds the right map and directions you need to set it up in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

You use two different windows to set up the online map: Online Map Setup and Online Map Parameter Setup.

To set up online map

  1. Open the Online Map Setup window (from the Navigation Pane, choose Administration, Application Setup, General, Online Map Setup).

  2. In the Map Parameter Setup Code field, select a code.

  3. In the Show Distance in field, select whether to calculate the route in Miles or Kilometers.

  4. In the Route (Quickest/Shortest) field, select whether to calculate the route that takes the least time, or the route that has the shortest distance.

  5. Choose OK.

To set up online map parameters

  1. In the Online Map Parameters Setup window, you set up parameters for the route calculation. Choose New.

  2. In the Code field, enter a descriptive name.

  3. In the Name field, enter a descriptive name for the map you are setting up.

  4. In the Map URL field, enter the URL for the map or route.

  5. In the Directions URL field, enter the URL for the directions for the map or route.

  6. In the Miles/Kilometers Option List field, enter the options that should be available for the map separated by commas. For example, Miles, Kilometers.

  7. In the Quickest/Shortest Option List field, enter the options that should be available for the map separated by commas.

  8. In the Comment field, enter a comment attached to the specific map.

  9. Choose OK.
