Start Maintenance Mode

The Start Maintenance Mode activity puts a monitor in System Center Operations Manager into maintenance mode. All alerts generated by computers watched by the monitor while in maintenance mode will be ignored. You can use the Start Maintenance Mode activity at the start of maintenance procedures to prevent false alerts from being generated.

Configuring the Start Maintenance Mode Activity
To configure the Start Maintenance Mode activity
From the Activities pane, drag a Start Maintenance Mode activity to the active runbook.
Double-click the Start Maintenance Mode activity icon. The Properties dialog opens.
Configure the settings in the Details tab:
In the Server section, click the ellipsis button (...), and select the Operations Manager server Connection that you want to use for this activity. Click OK.
In the Details section, enter the name of the Monitor that you want to put into maintenance mode, or you can click the ellipsis (…) button next to the text box to browse for the monitor.
You can also use published data to automatically populate the value of the property from the data output by a previous activity in the runbook.
To use published data
Right-click the property value box, click Subscribe, and then click Published Data.
Click the Activity drop-down box and select the activity from which you want to obtain the data.
To view additional data elements common across the runbook, select Show Common Published Data.
Click the published data element you want to use, and then click OK.

Select the Reason that you want to put the selected monitor into maintenance mode.
Enter the Duration in minutes for the maintenance mode. Five minutes is the minimum allowable time for maintenance mode.
Optionally, enter a Comment for the activity.

Click Finish.
