Enabling or Disabling an HTTP Proxy for QoE Solutions

Both the Monitoring Server and the metric report consumer server will usually be located within your organization’s internal network, so you will not need an HTTP proxy. By default, Monitoring Server will not use any HTTP proxy, and it will send the reports directly to the FQDN of the metric report consumer. You can, however, configure Monitoring Server to use the existing proxy settings that are configured for the Monitoring Server by either local machine or Group Policy settings.

To enable or disable an HTTP proxy

  1. Log on to the Monitoring Server as a member of the Administrators group.

  2. Start the Registry Editor: Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.

  3. In the console tree, right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Real-Time Communications\{B956FCFA-77F2-4ECA-A3EE-F864B8209C0D}. Create this registry key it is doesn’t exist.

  4. Point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

  5. In the details pane, in the Name column, type EnableProxyForMetricsConsumer for the new value, and then press ENTER.

  6. In the details pane, right-click EnableProxyForMetricsConsumer, and then click Modify.

  7. In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, in the Value data box, do one of the following:

    • To use the Internet Explorer HTTP proxy settings, type 1, and then click OK.
    • To no longer use the Internet Explorer HTTP proxy settings, type 0, and then click OK.
  8. Restart the QoE Monitoring service for the changes to take effect.
