How to: Specify an Application Manifest File for Preloaded Resources

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

The application manifest file lists the resources (such as grammars and prompt databases) to be preloaded by Speech Server. Preloading large resources required by an application can improve performance by making them retrievable from local memory instead of a Web server. Specifying an application manifest file is not required to run an application on Speech Server. Each application has its own unique manifest file. For more information, see About Application Manifest Files.

If you specify a manifest file that has changed from a previously loaded set of resources, Speech Server automatically reloads the new set of resources after you click Apply or OK to apply the new settings.

Specifying an Application Manifest File

To specify an application manifest file

  1. Open the Speech Server Administrator console.

For more information, see How to: Start the Speech Server Administrator Console.

  2. In the console tree, expand the applicable group, and then click Applications.

  3. In the details pane, double-click the applicable application.

  4. In the Manifest box, type the Web location (URL) of the application manifest file, and then click OK.

    Note

You can also specify the application manifest file with a Windows Management Instrumentation script. For more information, see the PreloadedResourceManifest property of Application Class.
