CV is also called cost variance. In general, CV is the difference between how much it should have cost and how much it has actually cost to achieve the current level of completion up to the status date or today's date.

For a Task, CV is the cost variance applied to a task.

For a Resource, it is the cost variance applied to a resource.

For an Assignment, it is the cost variance applied to an assignment.
