Creating Replicas Manually
Published : September 27, 2005
When you create a protection group, you can choose to create the replicas manually from tape or other removable media, thus reducing the load on the file servers and network.
Automatic replica creation is easier, but, depending on the size of the protected data, manual replica creation can be faster. For smaller data sets, we recommend the automatic option. For large data sets and slow networks, the manual option is likely to be a better choice.
After the replica is created, you must run synchronization with consistency check.
For instructions on creating a replica manually, see “Choose Replica Creation Method” (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=51912) in DPM Help.
