With System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2010, you can backup and restore SharePoint Search created by Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS).
Protecting SharePoint Search and MOSS 2007 Shared Service Provider (SSP)
DPM recognizes and lists the SharePoint SSP instance when you create a protection group for the SharePoint farm. The following procedure lists the steps to protect a computer that is running MOSS 2007 SSP.
To Protect a Computer that is Running MOSS 2007 SSP
Enable SPSearch protection on the protected computer by using ConfigureSharePoint.exe. For more information about ConfigureSharePoint.exe, see Using ConfigureSharePoint.
Use the Create New Protection Group wizard to protect the SharePoint SSP instance, which is listed under the SharePoint farm in which it was created.
Notes
During the backup process, DPM pauses index crawling and all background processes. After the backup process is complete, DPM automatically resumes these processes. This does not affect the search function.
