Resource manager proxies can use the IDtcToXaMapper interface to map between OLE Transactions and XA protocol when the XA is being used as the native protocol for distributed transactions. ODBC is an example of an RM proxy. The following sections use ODBC as a specific example to facilitate the understanding of what needs to be done in the resource manager proxy to map OLE Transaction to the XA protocol.

When to Implement

You do not need to implement this interface. It is implemented by the core object of the DTC Proxy.

When to Use

Use this interface to map between OLE Transactions and XA protocol using the two-pipe connection model.

Methods in Vtable Order

IDtcToXaMapper methods Description
RequestNewResourceManager Obtains a RM cookie which is stored in the connection object.
TranslateTridToXid Creates an XID from an ITransaction object.
EnlistResourceManager Instructs the DTC Proxy to enlist on behalf of the XA resource manager.
ReleaseResourceManager Instructs the DTC Proxy to release an RM cookie that was obtained from the call to RequestNewResourceManager

Remarks

Either call the DtcGetTransactionManager function with a riid of IID_IDtcToXaMapper when initially connecting to DTC or call QueryInterface on any interface on the DTC proxy core object with a riid of IID_IDtcToXaMapper
