Keep the following points in mind about processes:
- Windows Embedded CE has a theoretical limit of 32,000 processes.
- A process starts with a single thread, often called the primary thread, that provides the resources that are required to run an application.
Windows Embedded CE creates a primary thread when the loader calls the WinMain function. - A process can create additional threads as needed.
The number of additional threads a process can create is limited by the amount of RAM available on the device. The kernel itself can address 512 MB of physical memory. - In Windows Embedded CE, threads migrate between process slots during system calls. For more information, see System Calls.
