Welcome to the Connection Manager Administration Kit
Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012
Connection Manager is a client network connection tool that allows a user to connect to a remote network, such as an Internet service provider (ISP), or a corporate network protected by a Virtual Private Network (VPN) server.
The Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK) is a tool that you can use to customize the remote connection experience for users on your network by creating pre-defined connections to remote servers and networks. To create and customize a connection for your users, you use the CMAK wizard.
Before running the CMAK wizard
Before running this wizard, review the CMAK documentation that you can find online at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=55986.
Documentation available includes:
CMAK Operations Guide (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=57535)
CMAK Technical Reference Guide (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=57536)
Installing CMAK
CMAK is an optional component that is not installed by default. You must install CMAK to create connection profiles that your users can install to access remote networks. For more information about how to install CMAK, see Install the Connection Manager Administration Kit.
Running the CMAK wizard
After you understand the process, and have gathered the prerequisite information, you can run the wizard. For more information about each step of creating your connection profile, see Run the CMAK Wizard to Create a Connection Profile.
Distribute your completed connection profile
Running the CMAK wizard produces a connection profile that is stored in an executable file. Running that file on a client computer equips that computer with everything needed to establish the network connection that you designed. For more information about testing and deploying your connection profile, see Distribute Your Connection Profile to Your Users.
