Dirquota quota freespace

Returns the amount of free space available on a path where a quota is configured. The free space is the difference between the quota limit and the amount of space used.

Note

To use this command, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group.

Syntax

dirquota quota freespace /path:<Path> [/remote:<ComputerName>]

Parameters

Description

/path:<Path>

Specifies the path where the quota is configured. Note that you cannot use any wildcard characters with this parameter.

/remote:<ComputerName>

Performs the operation on the remote computer ComputerName.

Remarks

  • If more than one quota affects the path specified by **/path:**Path, the command returns the amount of free space for the most restrictive quota.

  • If the path specified does not have a quota configured, the command returns an error.

  • The shortest sequence of characters that uniquely identifies a parameter can be used as an abbreviation. For example, the following two commands are equivalent:

    dirquota q f /p:d:\scratch
    dirquota quota freespace /path:d:\scratch
    
  • To perform operations on a remote computer with the **/remote:**ComputerName parameter:

    • You must be logged on with a domain account that is a member of the Administrators group on both the local computer and the remote computer.

    • The remote computer must be running Windows Server 2008, and File Server Resource Manager must be installed.

    • The Remote File Server Resource Manager Management exception on the remote computer must be enabled. You enable this exception by using Windows Firewall in Control Panel.

  • To determine the amount of free space available in the folder D:\scratch, type:

    dirquota quota freespace /path:d:\scratch
