Thank you for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve been having with Word. Based on what you've described, I suggest a few additional steps that may help resolve the issue:
- Check for Add-ins
Sometimes third-party add-ins can cause Word to freeze. Try disabling them:
- Open Word in Safe Mode again (
Win + R, then typewinword /safe)
Go to File > Options > Add-ins
At the bottom, select COM Add-ins and click Go
Uncheck all add-ins and restart Word normally
- Update Office
Ensure you have the latest updates installed:
Go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now
- Repair Office (Online Repair)
If you’ve tried Quick Repair, try the more thorough Online Repair:
Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
Select Microsoft Office, then click Change
Choose Online Repair and follow the prompts
- Check for Conflicting Software
Antivirus or other background applications can interfere with Office. Try temporarily disabling them to see if Word behaves differently.
5. Create a New User Profile
- Try creating a new user profile, as corrupted profiles can cause persistent issues.
- You can also uninstall and reinstall Office to completely remove any lingering configuration problems.
- Lastly, check if the issue is tied to a specific document—sometimes a single corrupted file can trigger repeated crashes.
