È possibile abilitare l'attivazione personalizzata fornendo una classe proxy che implementa ICustomFactory e assegna la MarshalByRefObject classe a ProxyAttribute. Quando la classe viene attivata, il metodo del CreateInstance proxy viene chiamato da Common Language Runtime per attivare la classe.
